Right in the middle of worldwide financial distress and hardships, God is causing unusual things to happen!
For many years we have received reports of people reading Prison to Praise and receiving Jesus as their Savior. Now we are hearing from an ever-increasing number of people. They often say that a friend or even a stranger gave them Prison to Praise, and as they read it their eyes are opened to the Good News. For the first time they know who Jesus is! Often they are amazed at what has happened to them and say they never expected to have such a happy confident faith in God.
We are living in difficult times, but also wonderful times. We have the opportunity of being here on earth when God is drawing more and more of people to His Son, in many parts of the world. You and I can ask Him to make us part of His plan.
I’ve learned that God especially loves volunteers. He sees those who push to the front of the line and ask to be used. As a private in the Army I learned to never volunteer, but in this case I really want to be a part of what God is doing. Sometimes when I spend a dollar I think, “For one
dollar I could print more copies of Prison to Praise, give them to more people and maybe one or more of them will be in Heaven for eternity. Perhaps at least one of them will become a zealous witness for Christ and bring dozens more people into God’s Kingdom.”

 by Merlin Carothers

We may be seeing a new day in God’s Kingdom. For sure we are seeing new opportunities to be used by Him. I wish I were younger and could do more. My heart wants to do everything I can – as quickly as I can. I’ve learned that God blesses and rewards anyone who has a part in leading others to His Son.
Push to the front of the line. Raise your hand. Be one of God’s leaders. Come in a wheelchair or on crutches. He can make leaders out of anyone who wants to be on the front lines. God desires people who say, “Please use me, Lord”!
An amazing part of our calling is how little effort it sometimes takes to turn another persons’ heart toward Jesus. God causes His Holy Spirit to do what we cannot do. We can be God’s instruments to someone who simply asks, “How are you today?” We can look them in the eye and say, “I’m wonderful because I know I’m going to Heaven.” The Holy Spirit can use those simple words to speak God’s message to the person He created. Or, we can hand them a printed message, in Jesus’ name. We sow one little seed, yet it can produce many seeds!
The harvest is so great, and the workers are so few (Mt. 9:37 TLB). If we determine to be God’s witness, our rewards will be amazing and wonderful!

When thinking of Mary and Martha, I always felt Mary was the wisest – after all, she chose to sit at Jesus’ feet, loving Him, while Martha was busy working for Him. But, like all the rest of us, Mary “blew it” on one occasion, anyway.
Lazarus had died. Jesus hadn’t gotten there in time. When He did arrive it was too late. Both sisters were grief stricken. When word reached them that Jesus had finally come, Mary must have felt like, “What’s the use,” because she didn’t go to Him, but remained where she was, weeping in her grief. Martha, on the other hand, probably felt the situation was just as hopeless, but she took her grief to Jesus. “Lord, if only you had gotten here in time, my brother would not have died.” (A little later Mary was to say the same thing, yet falling at His feet in hopeless grief.) Martha, in her faith, went a step farther. “Lord, if only you had gotten here in time, my brother would not have died – yet even so, I know that whatever you ask from God, He will give you.” (See John 11:22).

by Mary Carothers

What a huge step of faith she took – her brother’s body had begun to decay; yet somehow she knew Jesus was still in charge of this situation. To Martha – because of her decision to trust Him –Jesus revealed a great truth, never before spoken: I am the Resurrection and the Life: he that believeth in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live (John 11:25). These words, promising eternal life to all who believe in Him, had never been so clearly revealed before. Martha received the blessing of that promise because she took her grief and sorrow to Jesus.
Lord, may we always run to you in faith with our sorrows and cares, even as Martha did. May we always trust You – no matter what happens – and know in our innermost being that You are LORD of all.

Our loss is
Heaven’s gain. Our
prayers are with those who loved them.

We try our best to get as many praise books as possible to the people who need them. To help do this, Mary and I receive no salary or payments for home, car or health insurance, or for our work with the foundation. We receive no income from anything you purchase through the Foundation. We donate some of our own money to help print more books. Our goal is to get God's Good News to the maximum possible number of people.
In addition we do not ask you to give money to the
Foundation. We leave that to the Holy Spirit to guide
you. He has done that for 36 years so that now we print 150,000 copies of Prison to Praise at a time, to give free books to nearly every major prison in the U.S., to many jails, and to any military chaplain who requests them.
God has blessed everything He has led us to do, in
ways far more encouraging than words can describe.
From all over the world we are contacted by people
who say they have received Jesus as Savior and have
discovered the power there is in praising the Lord for
all things.
We report these things to you so that you will not be discouraged. God's people are building His Kingdom!
. . . Stand up and lift up your heads, because your
redemption is drawing near
(Luke 21:28 NIV).

Prison to Praise

In 1976, I was in a Christian book store when the woman behind the counter asked me if I had read Prison to Praise. She said she knew I would enjoy it. Reading that priceless book transformed my understanding and attitude about life. Later, I read Power in Praise and that reinforced the power of thanksgiving in all things. As a result I have enjoyed an exceedingly happy life. Ruth, VA

I just read Prison to Praise and I can't hold back the tears flowing from my eyes. My nephew is in jail and I'm standing in the gap for him in prayer. May this experience in the cell bring miracles to his life. Benita, CA

A lady at a flea market stepped out into the aisle as my husband was passing and said, “I'm supposed to give you this book.” She handed him Prison to Praise. We both read it and our lives have been changed. Karen, PA

Prison to Praise changed my life and has put me back on track. Please pray for me, I am 18 and in jail. Corey, Sussex Correctional, DE

I am in jail and yes I am guilty. Prison to Praise is the first book I have read in my life. I had been thinking of suicide most of the time in here, but your book has helped me and I thank you. For years Satan had me in bondage but no more. Please pray for me. Steve, Carroll County Jail, GA

We're still having a ball giving out Prison to Praise. Thank you, thank you for these good books. Joe and Bev, WA

I read Prison to Praise and have passed it around in the senior building where I live. I am 78 and have enjoyed reading this book again and again. Leine, CA

I read Prison to Praise 25 years ago when I received it from a sister in Trinidad and Tobago. I lent it to others and I recommend it highly.
