It is required of stewards that they be found trustworthy (I Cor. 4:2). Not hoped that they be trustworthy, not desired that they be trustworthy, but required that they be trustworthy. When you read this verse, what does it cause you to think about? Because required is such a strong word, reading it makes me sit up and pay attention. I feel that, as a Christian, I have an obligation to be trustworthy and responsible.
As Christians, we are stewards of all that God has given us. Perhaps the word stewardship causes you to think of money. While it does include our finances, believe me, it means much, much more. Next month not only will we choose the President and Vice President, but also a number of Senators and Congressmen. This is a duty of every adult in our nation. We are the stewards of our Democracy. There is no way we can avoid the fact that we are accountable for whoever is elected. We may shirk our
responsibility, we may not be found trustworthy,
but God will still hold us accountable. Some day we Christians will stand before Him and give an account of our stewardship as His children. To some He will say, well done. To others He will not.

In Luke 12, Jesus blessed the faithful steward for being trustworthy - in fulfilling his responsibilities.
It sure is tempting to want to tell you how to vote. But that would be wrong of me. Besides, if I tried to tell you how to vote, I'd be depriving you of the joy of being led by the Holy Spirit. Make the effort to know how the different candidates have voted on various issues. Do they honor God? Are they people of integrity? Do they obey God's Word? As stewards of the manifold graces of God, we are on the hook - we can't wiggle off. We are, by the grace of God, citizens of this free country. In the years to come, our children, grandchildren and their children will either bless or curse us for the condition their nation is in.
Both national parties agree that this election is critical in determining the direction our nation follows. Will our country follow God and His Word? It will depend on how we vote.
